Athens and the Port

Athens, well as you can imagine, a really big city. The port city itself is called Piraeus, that along with the rest of the towns along the coast have been connected to the people of Athens now by way of newly finished and growing metro and an efficient tram system. Needless to say I did not spend enough time here to explore everything (only 5 days) but then again I could say that about almost anywhere I have been and am going.

Piraeus is dived into 3 main harbors; there is the main port of Piraeus, the Zea Marina, and the Mikrolimano Port (which is for small fishing boats and such).

A view of the entrance to the Zea Marina, from atop Mikrolimano.

Cool, but wierd and hop building, and a really nice park in the foreground.

The Erechtheion, you can see the Caryatids on the left side of the photo.

The all mighty Parthenon.

The all-powerful Tower of the Winds... anyone know who designed it?

The cruise ship terminal in the main port of Piraeus.

Beaches like this are easy to get to now because of the new tram system.

The tiny port of Mikrolimano, its all lined with great seafood restaurants.

One of the restaurants in Mikrolimano, for clarification all the food is fresh.

Mikrolimano from above.

Panorama from Zea Marina.

Zea Marina.

Piraeus Port.

Athens from atop the Acropolis, now I kinda know why they built everything up here.
